Geometry Dash is a rhythm obstacle course disguised as a cute icon. One tap. Spikes. Music that dares you to mistime by a frame. The session is almost always the same shape: attempt, fail, attempt again until the section finally clicks or your patience does not.
Fairness is everything. When the level telegraphs the jump and your thumb misses, that is on you. When hitboxes feel soft or the music desyncs on a mid-range phone, the wall stops teaching. We care about input lag honesty more than icon cosmetics.
Progression is skill-gated more than shop-gated, which is refreshing. The fatigue comes from retry loops that eat twenty minutes without a single new section clearing. Live-ops and packs exist, but the core loop still lives or dies on timing.
A good sit-down clears one stubborn stretch and stops on a high. A bad sit-down is rage-retrying the same spike for half an hour while the rest of the day waits. User levels expand the map forever. That is a gift and a time sink.
We like practice mode when it teaches the section instead of sanding away the challenge. We sour when menus and store chrome slow the path back into the level you actually came to beat.
Bottom line: keep it if the wall still feels like a teacher. Leave when retries stop teaching and only burn the evening.
